I’m not sure what the business laws are for my state (Iowa) and what the process would be for legitimizing my business. When must a company be incorporated and what are the benefits and drawbacks to this? Any advice that anyone can offer about what sort of expense I can expect to pay and what kind of a time frame I could be looking at before I can get underway. Thank you!

Todd Likos

Doink asked:

Marriage IS a corporate union of two bodies, is it not? And it requires a license with the state, with risk evaluations and implied co-signers, not? And you are required to obtain certificates for children as proof of ownership.

Bonus question: Therefore, is marriage really structured as more of an economic concept rather than a love concept?
@J Not apathetic, just disgruntled. A person’s enjoyment of marriage, or their ability to overlook the negative experiences of others, is based on what they already have, plus what they are guaranteed to earn for labor, or to gain free of charge, in the future. But we don’t say it that way, because we always try to *make* it look like it *should be* for love regardless of outcome. Divorcees have it worse than the unmarried, because of the permanence principle.

@Ellis Dee What I mean is that you have to buy the license even if sex is not intended, because you assume the state’s risk, in case your child ever becomes dependent on state services(welfare, disability, employment help). It’s like the financial responsibility card your car insurance company gives you, even though you don’t intend to crash into someone else’s car. The chance is a liability.

Jennifer Higa
